In the first Test match in Galle, Saud Shakeel made history by being the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century in Sri Lanka.The previous greatest individual Test score by a Pakistani batter in Sri Lanka, held by Mohammad Hafeez (196) and Younis Khan (177), was exceeded with his excellent innings of 208 not out.

Along with his outstanding batting abilities, Saud Shakeel also became a member of a select club of Test cricketers by scoring fifty runs or more in each of his first six games. He joins players like Sunil Gavaskar, Basil Butcher, Saeed Ahmad, and Bert Sutcliffe as the fifth player in cricket.

In order to further cement his place in Test cricket history, Saud Shakeel must achieve another fifty in order to set a new world record.

In his sixth Test, Shakeel scored three runs in a 177-run partnership with Salman to earn his second Test century.

As they faced the Sri Lankan spinners, led by left-armer Prabath Jayasuriya, who shook the visitors on Monday with three top-order wickets including captain Babar Azam, the pair saved Pakistan from a dangerous 101-5 on day two.

Both Shakeel and Salman scored runs quickly and consistently, but after Salman left the game, the run rate dropped.
